Today was my Mother-in-Law's funeral; out of respect, I would not have come to Newsvine to write or comment, nor would I have taken any photos. But this I must share with you.
My kitchen window overlooks a park area in Philadelphia ... it has been kept by the city, to a great extent in a natural state. I placed a bird feeder in the back yard, high enough to be in plain view for anyone sitting at the kitchen table and looking out towards the woods. Bird, squirrels, deer, red fox, chipmunks, raccoons, opossum and other wildlife come by at various times of day. On a "good" day for nature lovers, twenty-five species of wildlife may be seen.
My Mother-in-Law always sat in her favorite chair at the kitchen table and we often sat together and watched the goings on at the feeder. During the last hour (approximately) three hours since the burial of my Mother-In-Law, a single bird has perched itself on a tree limb I propped near the feeder.
I have watched intermittently for the last hour ... each time I return to the window, the bird sits, perched, silent still. I decided to get my camera and photograph it ... hoping in my heart that it is Lilian, my Mother-in-Law ... coming to say she is at Peace.
Crazy, psychotic, wishful thinking ... guilty as charged, but be prepared ... the bird in the photo is the bird of which I speak ...
It is a Dove ... and yes, a symbol of peace. But it is a particular species of Dove ... so, regardless of what you are willing to believe ... and not, ponder this ... it is a ...
I love you Lilian ... fly away and return whenever you wish.
